Chime carpets opposition

ABUJA— GOVERNOR Sullivan Chime of Enugu State has described those opposed to him as jokers and frustrated people who have not in any way distracted him from carrying out his constitutional role of impacting positively on the lives of people in the state.
To this end, he has within the first year in office, constructed and rehabilitated 48km of roads in the state. The governor told journalists in Enugu, that his opponents saw his continued stay in office as a miracle.
According to him, “ I refuse to be distracted, I don’t think distraction has affected us adversely, luckily, people who were meant to distract us, we see them as jokers and frustrated people.
When we came, we threw our doors open and some people chose to opt out. To them, it is a miracle that I am still in office”. He stated further that he was optimistic that those opposed to his administration will disappear when he wins the three cases pending against him in law courts.
"By the time three judgments we are waiting come and I am not removed, what is left of these detractors will finally disappear”. On efforts by his administration to achieve its aim of total package of urban renewal, the governor speaking through his special Adviser on media, Martin Ilo told journalists that a total of 130km of roads have so far been constructed/rehabilitated in Enugu township.
He also disclosed that government has placed order for the supply of 2,000 units of solar-powered street lights for the metropolis worth 500 million naira. Also 15km of roads have been earmarked for rehabilitation at a cost of 2 billion naira.
